Tai Chi History and Techniques

balanced booksFor over 3000 years Chi Kung has been practiced for health and relaxation. Around 582 BC a Buddhist monk from India arrived at the Shaolin Temple in China.

It was this monk who helped develop Chi Kung exercises to enable the Shaolin Monks to meditate longer without falling asleep, while also developing stabilizing muscle strength.

Tai Chi Ch’uan, which means "The Grand Ultimate Fist", was developed about 980 AD and creates a moving meditation by performing many Chi Kung exercises in a set sequence.

These practices taught by In Balance Tai Chi Studio have been handed down for generations from the Shaolin Temple.

Chi Kung techniques are based on Chinese oriental medicine that believes "Chi" [Vital Life Energy] flows through channels or meridians throughout the body and you can work or cultivate your very own Chi that permeates your body.

We will also focus on thought affirmations, thought visualizations and other ways to apply meditation in our daily life.
